Road Trippin’ to the Florida Keys!

Are you up for a road trip? Pack your bags and experience how we do our road trippin’ to the Florida Keys! Too busy for a vacay? No worries! We live in a travel destination mecca known as the State of Florida! Whether you like the overgrown mouse in Orlando, beaches, entertainment, or old Florida destinations throughout the state no one can deny the draw of the Florida Keys! Road trippin’ to the Florida Keys is fun! Making stops along the way to check out all of the really cool local joints, dive bars, if you must. We enjoy their local eats, live music and water views along the way. First stop, Alabama Jacks in Key Largo, for their take on conch fritters the size of your head! Second stop is the Lazy Days in Islamorada with the most amazing view of crystal blue water, craft cocktails, and t-shirts you will not find anywhere else! Next stop is our resort in Marathon!

Florida Key’s Vibe

You cannot beat the Florida Key’s vibe! The water is crystal blue, giant iguanas, and the sunsets are insane. That Florida key vibe puts a smile on your face when you sit in a chair alongside the water. At this point, you can totally relate to Jimmy Buffet. The sunsets are in line with what could be a ticketed event in the key’s. When the sun in the key’s begins to set everyone gathers alongside the water where the view is remarkable. As part of our road trippin’ to the keys weekend, we headed down to Key West for a day excursion. The local chickens, music, and the original bars are what makes Key West…Key West. The Green Parrot bar is vintage 1890 and the first and last bar on US 1. As someone who travels US 1 everyday, I was just as impressed by the end of the US 1 sign as I was by the famous Southermost Point sign. We love our staycation’s and our Florida vacays because you never know how much fun you will have in your own back yard!

  1. My husband and I are driving to a Marathon, FL next week for 2 nights. Thank you for this posting! Do you recommend anything in Marathon itself also? This is for my husbands birthday. TIA

  2. Hi Lynn, we stayed in Marathan at a resort. We didn’t eat on the island except for breakfast at little dive joint which actually ended up being quite tasty! It was called the Cracked Conch Cafe. I hope that you both have a great time!! Please let me know if you get a chance to stop at Lazy Days or Alabama Jacks!! And remember, if you stop at Alabama Jacks do no leave without trying the bigger than your head conch fritters! 🙂
