Melbourne Food and Wine Festival Ice Sculpture

So, this past weekend was the much anticipated 4th Annual Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. This is such a fabulous event for us in food & wine! This truly is the biggest event in Melbourne where so many of our local restaurants, wine, and liquor distributors come together. They share with us their culinary skill and their products. For us, it’s a perfect opportunity to “small bite” around all of the local restaurants that maybe you haven’t had a chance to check out! It can also be so overwhelming because there are so many options. Where to start can be the biggest issue! Unfortunately, we totally missed this year’s winner, Cyderman’s BBQ. The crazy thing is we have never been to Cyderman’s so this is going on our list! So, here is the skinny on just a few of our favorite nibbles…

Our first food stop was Crush XI where they were serving up a gochujang short rib, smoked polenta and pineapple kimchi small bite that was amazing! So, I totally did a happy dance with a few desert bites at a tent that delivers overnight from Tampa! Mike’s Pies had an incredible Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake, insane!! The Burger Place always delivers with their perfect mini cheeseburger and shoestring fries! East Coast Shuckers (a mobile raw bar) had a super fresh ceviche. A perfect Bao which had just the right amount of spice to offset the sweet was served by Pub Americana. Did we do any flights? Of course, we did! We tried the Bourbon flight which featured Jim Beam Distilleries, Knob Creek Quarter Cask, and Basil Hayden Dark Rye. Love a good Bourbon! We also tried the wine flight, my favorite was the Arrowood Knight Valley Cab. It was rich and robust, very full of flavor! What a fabulously fun night! We put away our stretchy pants until next year!
